We humans have an innate sense of acting solemn when we are in the presence of some being greater than us. We call that action, being reverent. What is reverence? and how should it be expressed?

God's Saddest Song - A Father's Lament

God has done immeasurably more for us than we can know. God worked magnificent miracles for the Hebrew people as He brought them out of the oppression of Egypt. He fed them as they wandered in the desert. He provided them with what to drink. He cared for their every need. All He wanted was for the Israelites to be devoted to Him. God was ready to pour out many more blessings but His people stifled God's action because they refused to follow God and instead lived by their wisdom. God has blessed us how can we say "No, I won't." God is calling out today to us like He did to the Israelites. "If only you would follow me . . ." We are in Psalm 81 today. An example from Nehemiah chapter on the power of teamwork. With carefully thought out assignments, the people, under Nehemiah's leadership, are able to complete the repair of the wall surrounding Jerusalem within 52 days.

In Sync with God

Nehemiah was despondent over the condition of Jerusalem. When the king asked him what was wrong, chapter 2 of Nehemiah tells us, that Nehemiah said a quick prayer before he answered the king. Sometimes a quick prayer is all we have time for but Nehemiah had backed up that last-minute prayer with months of extended prayer before God. Prayer, and talking with God is one of the main ways we get our hearts and thoughts in synchronization with God. When we align our heart and mind with Him we can move forward in power and wisdom. The God of the Impossible

Gideon had an impossible task before him, and God made it more impossible. Why? So His people the Israelites would learn anew that with God all things are possible and so their faith in God would be deepened. god wants us to trust Him in the impossible situations in our lives for the same reason so that our faith in Him would be deepened. Building Believers by Being Broken

God's primary interest in us is building a deeper faith in us. He knows that if we have faith all things are possible. We know, as Christians, that we can trust that God will "meet every need according to the riches of His Father in heaven." We need not fret for what we need to live. However, we usually don't trust God and feel we have to get all we can for ourselves. Then a time of failure comes in our life. It may be failure from a sin or it may be a failure from well-intended reason but not what God wants. At this point we can blame everyone else for what happens to me or we can seek forgiveness of our sin, repent from the sin, and trust God more each day. Using II Samuel 12:1-10.
